Cycling holidays in
the Murcia Region of Spain.
"Las
Tortugas" is a small family run business
offering vegetarian accommodation and
relaxing cycle rides in and around
Alhama de Murcia.
Rides are
all guided and there is full back up
support. The company offers a range of
rides which vary in distance and
difficulty. You select your own rides on
arrival.
The offer
is a 5 night package. You select your
rides plus the option for a day´s
excursion into into either Murcia or
Lorca. Alternatively, you can opt for a
4th day of cycling or have a rest day by
the pool.
The routes
selected are pleasant, almost
traffic-free, quiet roads and tracks
which offer a range of different types
of scenery and interest.
These
include canal towpaths, country lanes,
places of local significance -
historical and religious, local markets,
etc etc. The area is agricultural and
you will be passing fields of salad
crops, olives, oranges and vines
Distances
range from 25km up to about 100km. You
will be given various choices of routes
when you arrive and you make your
selection. There are a range of bikes
that suit most sizes. Whilst the routes
selected are chosen as easy cycling to
suit leisure cyclists, we can also offer
more "testing" routes for more
experienced cyclists.
Excursion
You can
take a one day option for an excursion
and guided tour into the nearby city of
Murcia, well known for its lovely
buildings, cathedral, museums and shops.
There are wonderful tapas bars to be
found here.
Or you can
step back in time and visit nearby Lorca
for a truly Spanish experience and visit
the Plaza Mayor with its delightful
baroque buildings.
However, if
this is not for you, you can instead
have a further cycle ride or just a lazy
day with a book by the pool.

On receipt
of your deposit you will receive an
acknowledgement plus a questionnaire for
you to complete and return prior to your
stay, so we can plan ahead ready for
your visit.
The Small
Print
Flights are
not included in the price. You book
these yourself to be sure of getting the
best deal. You will be collected you
from Alicante or Murcia airports. You
are advised to arrange your own holiday
insurance. There is a 24/7 Health centre
in Alhama
Holidays
normally commence with arrival on Sunday
evening and departures on Friday. This
is flexible, so check for availability
A deposit
of £50 per person to be paid on booking.
Balance to be paid not less than 1 month
prior to holiday.
